The Aegean
Region is a region which combines agriculture, tourism and
manufacturing. In terms of economic development, the
Aegean Region is one of Turkey's most attractive regions.
Accounting for approximately 11% of Turkey's industrial
production, the Aegean is also one of the most significant
tourist regions in the world. At the center of the
region's industry and commerce is Izmir, which accounts
for a large portion of Turke's exports. Below is a list of
the provinces in the region along with their leading
industries:
Balıkesir
- Construction materials and agriculture.
Uşak
- Textiles, garment manufacturing and leather.
Manisa
- Electronics, automotive sub-industry, textiles and
agricultural products.
Aydın
- Cotton, fig and tobacco farming and farm machinery.
Denizli
- Textiles and iron & steel.
Muğla
- A tourism area with natural and historical treasures,
thousands of tourists are hosted each year.
Izmir
- At the region's center, Izmir has a well developed
industrial and commercial potential. In the province there
are 3 Industrial Parks, 3 Universities and the Aegean Free
Trade Zone. |
