AND SPORTS FACILITIES |

| The coastal
belt surrounding Izmir has naturally formed beaches and
small bays in nearly every center of settlement. At some
points there are beaches that stretch as far as are
surrounded either by settlements or forests.
Transportation to the beaches and small bays is extremely
easy and quick. It is possible to find a vehicle to any
district at every hour both at the Izmir central garage
and the Üçkuyular Garage. |

Main Beaches of Izmir and its surroundings |
 Çeşmealtı
- Urla Beaches : |
Çeşmealtı,
which is 36 kms. away from konak, is a lively and natural
center of tourism. The long beaches which streach from Çeşmealtı
to Içmeler cause the regions population to expand by two
or three times the usual population during the summer
months. The Urla Camp Municipality Beach, the natural
beaches and swimming pools at the Nebioğlu Holiday
Village which are all located in Çeşmealtı serve
tourists all season long. Also one can use the beaches at
the Malçaka Içmeler facility.

| Karaburun
- Mordoğan - Balıklıova Beaches : |
Right after
the Içmeler beaches and coasts the beaches and small bays
starting with the Karaburun - Mordoğan route expand one
after another. The wavy coastal belt starts from Balıklıova
and continues until Karaburun with the same characteristic.
Each of the bays which are formed by the wavy coast are
natural wonders. This region which is greatly untouched,
does not have a developed touristic foundation and is
aplace especially prefered by people who want to spend a
peaceful vacation close to nature. The natural beaches
with its glittering sand and clear and blue sea affords
pleasure especially to the domestic and international
tourists which choose tent or caravan tourism. Touristic
investments in the Mordoğan and Karaburun regions are
increasing and these natural beaches are attaining
foundation facilities. Transportation from the Uçkuyular
bus-station is possible at every time.

| Çeşme
- Ilıca - Şifne Beaches : |
As one of
the leading centers of tourism in our country and having
an international reputation the Çeşme-Ilıca region
besides its natural beaches is known with the beaches of
its hotel-motels, holiday resorts, camps and other similar
recreation facilities. The Altınyunus holiday complex in
Çeşme is a facility which has an international
reputation. The holiday resort which contains swimming
pools, sports units, side services and entertainment
possibilities all together in the most modern way, at the
same time is an important center of activity in which
international congresses are held. The Sheraton Çeşme
Hotel and other touristic hotels are the focus points of
the tourism movement in Çeşme. The Ilıca beaches show
mostly thermal characteristics. The drinking waters
containing radioactivity in which the sand of the hot and
cold healing waters embrace with the sun attract tourists
of every age to the region. The sea in Çeşme is
continuously warm because it contains sulphuric water
sources up to 28. The beaches which are open to the
northern winds in the summer, with its green landscape and
modern settlements make up one of the limited centers of
tourism of our country. Transportation is possible at
every hour of the day with buses departing from the Uçkuyular
bus-station.

| Sığacık
- Akkum Beaches : |
The Akkum
Beaches in Sığacık holiday local which are 5 km. away
from the district of Seferihisar is a beautiful holiday
and recreation center with its clear sea and glittering
sand. The archaelogical remains of Teos can be reached by
a 1 km. walk. When looking down the hill of Teos the Akkum
facilities, beaches and the small yacht harbor can be seen.
Places to stay and eating-drinking facilities can be found
in the Akkum beaches.

| Aliağa
- Çandarlı Beaches : |
The beaches
expanding right across from the bay containing the Aliağa
refinery facilitiy, have attained a modern appearanced
with the modern facilities and houses in the past period.
The Aliağa beaches which have a natural beauty attract
especially domestic tourists with its open and cabired
beaches.
Çandarlı, located 84 kms. away from Izmir, is a
peninsula which is surrounded by the sea on three sides.
Having natural beaches on three sides Çandarlı has
become famous with its fish. Camping and pansion tourism
has dreveloped in the previous years. Çandarlı Beaches
with its countryside cafes, entertainment possibilities
and great sea provides a peaceful and comfortable place to
relax.

| Dikili
Beaches : |
The beaches
in the Dikili district are mostly peoples beaches and
occupy an important place in the tourism of this pretty
district. The beaches outside the center of the city give
service with or without cabins. Hotel-motels, and camping
units help the increase of the tourism potential.

| Foça
Beaches : |
Besides its
historical importance, Foça attracts people with its
natural beauties. When the bay and beach covered with a
green botanic blanket unites with the famous fish it
transforms into an extremely attractive center of tourism.
Pansions are also developed besides the hotels.

| Ahmetbeyli
beaches : |
Claros,
being 55 kms. away from Izmir is famous with its antique
remains as well as its beaches. The Claros ruins, which
are visited by many foreign tourists every year, are
decorated with the natural bays and long and vast beaches
which stretch in front of Ahmetbeyli.

| Gümüldür
- Özdere Beaches : |
It is a holiday district
which is prefered with its sunny weather, sand and the sea
on the coastal line of 8 kms. through Kuşadası -
Seferihisar. Gümüldür is motionous in four seasons due
to its tourism industry and citrus fruits trade. Özdere
is an emportant touristic holiday district with its small
bays located on Kuşadası - Çeşme coastal belt of 22
km. and beaches with its clean sea sand, and sun. It is a
place for relaxing and it place for the amateur fishermen
due to hunting. The mountain sports can be done in pine
forests. It is active during four seasons in this holiday
district, capasity of bed is around 5000 and it is 79 kms.
further than Izmir.

| Selçuk
- Pamucak Beaches : |
The Pamucak
Beaches, which are 8 kms. away from Efes which is known
for its antiqu Efes ruins and museum toward Kuşadası, is
known for its sun and beaches. The beaches which are very
llong attract tourists with its untouched appearanced. The
Pamucak coast which contain modern accomodation and eating-drinking
facilities, at the same time is declared as a "Center
of tourism" and it is tried to be made more developed
in accordance to a certain plan.

| SPORT
FACILITIES |
In Izmir
which is extremely rich on account of its sports
facilities, sports activities are on the top of the list
of issues which the people intensely take interest in. We
can summarize the sports facilities in Izmir which also
take part in international sports events accordingly:
Our providence which was not so rich with sports
facilities before 1971; was awarded many new facilities
with the attribution of the organization of the 1971
Meditterranean Games. Because of this organization the
side fields of the Atatürk Stadium and a private
Athletism was opened. The Atatürk Stadium with its
capacity to hold 67.500 spectators became the largest
stadium. The Atatürk Sports Stadium was widened because
of the Mediterranean Games and the Olympic Swimming pool
was put to work. Also the Olympic Swimming pool at the
Agean University (Ege Universitesi) was opened in 1991. At
the pool there are organized swimming, diving and
underwater lessons for different age groups. In the Agean
University the swimming-divinig-water ball club is open
tied to the pool principality. In Izmir there are 117
facilities. Of these 12 are stadiums, 27 football fields,
17 training halls, 3 swimming pools, 30 tennis courts, 4
sailing facilities, 1 shooting pollygon and other sports
facilities. New facilities are added to these facilities
every day.
