YACHT TOURISM
The Izmir Alsancak Harbor serves as a harbor which can be used trade ships, heavy tonage ships and passenger ships. The harbor which is not convenient for yachhts to use, can accept 24 ships after the expansion was made. Below there are harbors and approaching places which a yacht can approach and spend the night. Also shelter docks are frequently foundn shelters in Izmir bays.
Pasaport Harbor : The Pasoport Harbor, which is an approaching place for all trade ships, will serve as a yacht harbor in the future.
Dikili Harbor : With a capacity to hold three passengers ships, the Dikili Harbor is used as a harbor for passengers and loading. Despite this most of the time yachts can approach and spend the night here. There is no foundation facility specially for yachts.
Çeşme Harbor : The Çeşme Harbor’s dock which includes both a trade and yacht harbor can hold up to two small tonage ships. The yacht harbor was planned to provide shelter for 150 boats and a 300 m long harbor was built. The Çeşme Yacht Harbor is used as a shelter for fishermen today. But because only yachts stop here during the summer it serves only for a short period of time.
Çeşme Altınyunus Yacht Harbor : Having a capacity to holld up to 70 large and 40 small boats. The Çeşme Altınyunus Yacht Harbor can provide every kind of Yacht Service. The harbor can provide water, electricity, telephone repair and barracks for the yachts staying overnight.
Alaçatı Yacht Approaching Place : This town, inland from Ilıca, is a delightful and typical Aegean town with windmills on the hill above it, some of which have been converted into attractive restaurants. Several kilometers south of town lies the coast, with very nice beaches. Down the coast, in a southeasterly direction, are many lovely bays which can only bereached by yacht, ensuring peaceful, relaxing stops in this perfect sailing region. Capacity of Alaçatı Harbor is 80 boats.

Urla Harbor : Known in ancient times as Clazomenae, this town has a marina and plentiful accommodations in all price ranges. At the top of Güvendik Hill nearby, are restaurants with marvelous views of the bay and its islands. You will doubtless want to visit by yacht and swim along the beautiful shores. Capacity of Urla fishingboat Approaching 175 boats, Urla harbor 20 and Capacity of Özbek köy harbor 80 boats.

Seferihisar - Sığacık Yacht Approaching Place : The Sığacık Yacht Harbor can provide services of water and electricity. Many tourists come to Turkey with ferries belonging to the T.C.’s (Turkish Republics) Marine Bank with time - table voyages during the summer from Izmir. These ferries run between Italy and Turkey.

Also cruvasier ships include Izmir in their programs during their journeys. There are boat trips between Chios, a Greek Island, and Çeşme continueing to the end of the summer.
In the Çeşme and Altınyunus Harbor during the winter many yacht stay for the winter and during the summer months there are frequent yacht trips especially Çeşme ad the Greek Islands. The possibilities about yachting in Çeşme is a sufficient level to holld international yacht races. The following yacht harbors are open all year round. The Çeşme Harbor is also able to provide service for all needs and to have the yachtz approach.

BLUE VOYAGE (Mavi Yolculuk) : The popular Blue Voyage Itinerary extends from İzmir (Aegean Coast) to Antalya (Mediterranean Coast). Yachts depart from İzmir, Çeşme, Sığacık, Kuşadası, Bodrum, Datça, Marmaris, Göcek, Fethiye, Kalkan, Kaş, Kemer and Antalya. The Blue Voyages are arranged by various travel_agents as well as by individual groups of 8-12 persons. These tours can be arranged between April to October.

Transit log - Yacht  registration form : The Transit log is a permit to sail in Turkhis water and to center Turkhis ports. Formalities are completed on this form at the first port of entry.
Validity : 3 months
Cost : 25 US Dollar for foreign yachts
The Transit log will be cancelled under the following circumstances.
After 3 months
Departure for foreign ports
For charter yachts, at the end of the cruise
Replacement of the person who has completed the Transit log
When new crew join the yacht
When the yacht owner or captain leave the yacht in a marina for laying up. Under any of these circumstances, a new Transit long will be required.

NEW REGULATION FOR TAX-FREE DIESEL FUEL FOR FOREING YACHTS : Foreign-registered yachts may obtain tax-free diesel fuel subject to the condition set out below:
Tax-Free fuel will be available for use only in foreign yachts and will be obtainable only from marinas and shipyards licensed by the Turkish Ministry of Tourism.
The owner of the yachts may be Turkish or foreign but must be a person having a permanent place of residence outside of Turkey.
The yacht may be brought to Turkey with the owner or may be brought two months earlier or later than the owners arrival in Turkey.
The yacht may receive tax-free fuel only in the presence of the owner.

USE OF VEHICLES BY FOREIGN YACHTSMEN :
Foreingn yachtsmen are allowed to use their foreign - registered vehicles in Turkey for 6 months in any one year. At the end of 6 months their vehicles must be taken out of the country.
If the yacht owner or captain takes over the yacht, their vehicles must be put into the marina customs bond under the responsibility of the marina.
The vehicles may be left in bond for up to 4 months.Before expiry, an application may be made to the chief customs authorities of the district for extension of period for a this period for a further 2 months.

Regulation NO: 120 dated july 12.1985 states that foreign yacht owners cannot keep yachts and their vehicles on their passports at the same time. It is advisvble that on entering Turkey , the yacht owners wife or friends have the vehicle recorded in their passport.
STAYING IN TURKEY FOR FOREING YACHTSMEN : Regulations for foreign yachtsmen wishing to stay in Turkey differ depending upon the nationality involved. Yachtsmen may obtain a visa from the Turkish embassy or consulate in their country, or upon entry to Turkey.
Yachtsment who enter Turkey without a visa :
If they are from Sout h Africa, a 21-day visa is obtainable for tourism purposes free of charge.
If they are from England (5 pounds), Ireland (5pounds), Austria (150 Sch.), Italy (5 USD), visas are valid for 3 months (a 3-month visa will be given on entry).
From other Western European and North America countries, yachtsmen will be issued with a 3 - month visa free of charge.
Yachtsmen who wish to stay in Turkey for more than 3 months, should apply for renewal of their visa to the district center office before the xpiry date of their visa.
If a renewal is required for longer than 3 months, the district center office will have to obtain confirmation from Ankara before it can be issued . (There may be a delay of up to 2 Month to receive this renewal).
If yachtsmen leave Turkey for a foreign port and later return, a 3- month visa will automatically be issued.

UNDERWATER DIVING
Diving for purposes of sport, with proper equipment and in non-restricted areas, is permitted. Foreign divers should have offical documentation of their qualification, training and must be accompanied, when diving, by a licensed Turkish guide. The limit for diving with diving gear is 30 meters. For educational purposes, this limit is extended to 42 meters. Dives exceeding 30 meters must be done with proper diving and medical equipment. In order to protect Turkish archaeoligical and culturel treasures, it is strictly forbidden to transport Turkish antiquities or natural specimens.
